Change registered agent (1) if you have doubts about reliability or service or (2) if you are paying too much. If you are satisfied on all counts, however, there is no reason to change. As to reliability, we discuss that issue elsewhere. As to cost, most agents will pay any cost to change involved and handle all the paper work. Some will go further and hold your change order until your anniversary date with your present agent, so that there is no duplication of expense. Where these conditions are present (example here), you gain by making the switch in the current year and each year thereafter, without any inconvenience other than authorizing the change. |
